A Beginner's Guide to Vaping and Proper E-Liquid Care

Posted by Bold Commerce on

Vaping is sweeping the world as a new trend. Youngsters and adults alike are lighting their e-cigs and stocking up on the good stuff—the e-liquid. E-liquids provide the flavour and sweet sensation each time you vape. They are fun, come in different flavours, and easy to use. However, most e-liquids also need to be handled with care to truly enjoy.

Every beginner and unknowing vape veteran needs to know the basics of e-liquid and how to properly stock up on it. That way, they can truly enjoy their vaping experience and also save their quid for other cool stuff. Here are some valuable tips that every vaper should know about:

E-liquids have a shelf life

E-liquids can expire over time, especially if they are stored in a forgotten shelf somewhere. The tricky part is the expiration date varies and is not an indicator to throw out the e-liquid.

There are different kinds of e-liquids but they are mostly composed of nicotine, vegetable glycerin (VG), and propylene glycol (PG). This combined formulation often has a shelf life of roughly two years or more, depending on the formulation of the product.

However, expired e-liquids are not exactly unusable or unsafe to vape with. In fact, there are some instances that e-liquids can be used well past their expiration date. You just need to be aware of three things: liquid separation, smell, and storage.

Make sure to dispose of e-liquids that don’t mix anymore after shaking, have an odd or faint odour, and are stored in an unideal place. Those kinds of e-liquids are no longer safe to consume and have lost their flavour.

Be mindful of the shelf life and instructions for use of your e-liquids as advised by your vape store.

E-liquids must be stored properly

Because e-liquids have a shelf life, there are proper ways and places to store them. The best place to store e-liquids is to keep them in a cool, dark place like a box or medicine cabinet. Take note of the expiration dates as well, so you won’t be wasting any e-liquids or have the burden of testing expired ones. In this way, you can preserve your e-liquids and enjoy the full vaping experience.

Always remember that sunlight is your e-liquids worst enemy because it discolours the solution and leaves it flavourless. Remember that heat breaks down the e-liquid, so don’t leave it lying around outdoors or directly facing an open windowsill.

Expired e-liquids need to be disposed of properly

If you weren’t able to take note of the shelf life and store an e-liquid properly, you need to learn how to properly dispose of expired ones. Remember that e-liquids are not easily disposable due to the presence of nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can easily contaminate a watershed if you haphazardly dump your e-liquid down the drain.

Consider these safe alternatives to properly and responsibly disposing of your e-liquid. If you have a kitty in the home with a litter box, you can safely dump your expired e-liquids in there. The highly absorbent material used for kitty litter soaks up your e-liquid and will not affect your cat in any way. The same method can be done if you also have used coffee grounds. They absorb the e-liquid effectively and you can safely dispose of it in the bin.

Conclusion

Taking care of your e-liquids is half the vaping experience. Take note of the shelf life, storage, and disposal of your e-liquids. In this way, you can enjoy the rich flavour of each e-liquid and have a fuller, uninterrupted vaping experience.
